Ramparts Supports The Gibraltar World Music Festival 2015

The Gibraltar World Music Festival 2015 is being sponsored, among others, by Ramparts European Law Firm.

This year's festival is celebrating the cultures of Maghreb and Morocco through music, workshops and a short film following the journey of an individual who travels back to Morocco to rediscover his roots.

The festival kicks off on the 16th June with the screening of 'Les Echos du Mellah: de Tinghir á Jerusalem’- the aforementioned documentary directed by French-Moroccan Kamal Hachkar.

On the 17th June the event called ‘Le Souk’ will be taking place at Commonwealth Park. This will imitate the setup of a Moroccan Souk enabling the public to experience the sounds, smells and colours of Morocco. The event presents the perfect way of bringing different cultures together during the times of political challenges in the world.

The festival comes to a close on Thursday 18th June at St Michael's Cave with a music concert consisting of two performances. Franco-Moroccan singer Françoise Atlan, will be performing a piece he calls ‘Convivencia’ – a tribute of Gibraltar to the Festival des Andalousies Atlantiques based in Essaouira. Thereafter, Dhafer Youssef will be performing Jazz and World Music.

The concert promises to be a unique experience for everyone there with musicians of different cultures performing. Tickets for the concert are available at Sacarello’s Coffe Shop & Restaurant and at 92 Irish Town at £30 (General Public) and £25 (Senior Citizens and Students).

Peter Howitt, Founder and Director of Ramparts said: “Ramparts is delighted to be able to support such a wonderful cultural event. A number of us attended last year's music festival and we were very impressed by the quality of the musicians and the management of the event. This year they have raised the bar even higher with the addition of a screening of a documentary and the creation of a Moroccan souk. Yan and his team are passionate about music, culture and cross-border diversity - we share that passion and want to help ensure that the festival continues to be a great success for Gibraltar.”

    Ramparts Opens Manchester Office

We are delighted to announce that Ramparts’ Manchester office opened in April 2015.

The opening of a UK office enables us to:

    - Provide additional support for our existing clients and partners who do business involving the UK.

    - Develop new client and business partner relationships in the UK.

    - Promote the UK and Gibraltar as European business centres of excellence and integrity to attract potential investors and clients looking to develop business in the EU.

We believe that having teams on the ground in multiple jurisdictions will help our clients and contribute to Ramparts’ expansion as a European firm. It will also bring benefits and added beneficial exposure to the Rock. The UK was the obvious first choice for our European expansion strategy given the political, legal and historic closeness between Gibraltar and the UK.

Peter Howitt, founder and Director of Ramparts stated:

Having a UK presence is important to us given how much cross-border legal work we already do in Europe and the UK. In addition the UK represents a great opportunity for us to support and grow our business and team. Manchester has a proud commercial history and is undergoing a period of significant business expansion, it is also becoming a second UK centre for innovative e-commerce companies including new FinTech businesses. Manchester makes sense for us and as with Gibraltar, we will work to ensure that we can be part of the continued success of Manchester.
